Hello everyone👋
Let’s get into this month’s update! Btw as always if you would like to see more frequent smaller updates please follow our Instagram broadcast channel, as we post there almost daily.
Nomad [E] ⚙️📦
Here is the order we plan on fulfilling the orders in: Vendor (we are here), Pioneer, Kickstarter, Shopify. We are working on all the ANSI orders starting with the most popular colorways (Graphite, Atomic, Atomic Purple, Chalk in this order). Our manufacturer told us they would have all the ANSI colorway orders assembled by September 25~28th. At that point the completed units will take a short trip to our fulfillment centre and we can start fulfilling the bulk of the orders (ie. Kickstarter and standard Shopify orders).
We are starting by fulfilling vendor orders first as they are going by boat and will take the longest to arrive to the vendor’s customers. We are also using the comparatively smaller volume needed for the vendors to work out the kinks in the assembly that would have otherwise been very challenging trying to troubleshoot while trying to build the large volume of KS/Shopify orders.
At the moment we’ve received enough parts to work on the vendor orders, but are still missing the rest of 4 components (see below for ETA of each part) to be able to finish the large volume of KS/Shopify orders we have. For transparency I’ll just show you the screenshot from the manufacturer (disregard the switch pullers those aren’t relevant to the Nomad E assembly):
Once your order ships you will get a tracking link via email. A few things to note:
1. Once you get your tracking link keep an eye out for a message asking you to pay for duties from the local carrier (we will not be responsible if your order is shipped back due to unpaid duties)
2. If you haven’t gotten a tracking link, we haven’t shipped your order yet! We have a very small customer service team, and can’t handle all the status update requests – rest assured we’re working on your order 🙏
Thanks for being patient everyone!🫶
Figma Creator Micro ⚙️
The production for the Figma Creator Micros are on track and they will be at our Shenzhen fulfillment centre early October.
KNOB1 🧪
The Nomad E production had more complications than anticipated, even in its final stages. Since so much of what the Knob1 uses for the display, and configuration, comes from the Nomad E firmware/software we had no choice to delay development of the Knob1 until we figured it out for the Nomad E. The good news is now that the Nomad E is in full swing production we have been able to move forward with the prototypes of the Knob1.
Yesterday we finished the 3D designs for the internals of the Knob1 packaging, and we have also placed the order for the PCB samples to test fit everything in the CNCed parts. We should get the PCB prototypes before the end of the month, and at that point we expect to need 1-2 months to do the development and testing for firmware and software.
The keycap production has been going smoothly since it’s able to go on independently of the other hardware/software hurdles we had. Our keycap manufacturer told us to expect all the keycaps required for batch 1 to be finished by September 20th.
We also launched a preorder for the KNOB SANS! This keyset was designed to work with a variety of low profile boards (technically high profile too). It will work with any MX switch, and works for pretty much all keyboards, even ones with numpads due to the extra keycaps it comes with. The only boards it won’t work with are the Keychron keyboards as they do something weird with their stabilizer keys that makes them non-standard… boo!
Bonus surprise! 👀
On top of launching the KNOB SANS keyset, we also launched the Nomad E keyset as a standalone kit in black and white (wrk. MX Alpha Night / Day). Hope you guys like them, and I can’t wait to see what builds you make with them😆
That’s it for now!
